Soi 5 is pretty ok, but is close to places like Beer Garden on 7, almost opposite Nana etc.
Why not look at moving further up Sukhumvit to simlar priced hotels - Or as others are suggesting doing Siam Square. Fio is right in that the Asia has good facilities, well priced, and handy to the BTS.
