I wouldn't be at all concerned about this, the bars are clustered mostly in Soi Nana & Soi Cowboy, well off the main road. And even if your nieces do walk past bars, so what? All they'll see is a group of men sitting at the bars drinking beer and talking to fully-clothed Thai gals behind the bars. Anything unsuitable takes place behind closed doors.
