Thank you guys for all of your opinons. My travel companion is leaning toward Patong. Patong, doesn't sound like my cup of tea. I don't mind staying somewhere else & venturing in a when I felt like it, but I don't not want the crowds, women for sale, merchants' hassles or large night life.
I have a feeling I might be stuck there though :-( Would it be safe for me to venture out alone?
