My main occupation is people watching and you can certainly do it here. We stayed in the Amari which is out but easy enough to get into where the action is.we generally go to Samui and chewang is very very busy and getting like patong now.
I like to go into the husle and bustle but again would not like to stay in it. We ventured in every night but stayed around the hotel and quieter places during the day .
I have not been to Pattaya but that is one place that I do not fancy.
Like they have said in previous posts it depends what blows your skirt up.
