It`s really frustrating when you post & you can`t get a reply so with out knowing much at all about this resort I`ll do my best to give you something.
Samui Laguna looks ok on their site (but they all do!!!)It`s fairly central to main Lamai.Lamai is not everybody cup of tea EG me I prefer Chaweng to Lamai but Chaweng is not everybody's either, really depends on your likes & dislikes.
Click the link below for some reviews on Samui Laguna from Sawadee for me personally the reviews there are not good enough for me to stay there however for every person who didn`t like it there will be somebody who loved it.
If you want to stay there I would book 1 - 2 nights then if it`s not what you desire rent a jeep & explore the island & other accommodation options.
As far as booking ahead I always advise at least 1 night in advance but there is enough accommodation on Samui that if you didn`t book you would be on the beach under the stars but then again you might get stuck in a sh*thole as happened to me one time,so at least book 1 night to be safe.
