I don't think it's fair to tar all Thai tattoo artists with the same brush. I found a great tattoo artist on Koh Pha Ngan. He did a fantastic touch up job on an old faded tatt - his work looks like air brushing. He designed the upgrade himself, and made changes I requested. (The original tatt was of my own design.) And he did me a new armband tatt with which I am very pleased. They weren't cheap, but cheaper (and, in my view, superior quality) to what I can generally get here in Australia. He was the third artist I checked out on the island, and the only one of the three I thought met my needs. And the photos on display were just that - photos of his own work. I will be going back.
