As Ott says, the problem would not be with Thai immigration, but with
your departing carrier. Yes, the Thai immigration law states that you
must either have a visa or an outward bound ticket, although I have
never heard of enforcement of that rule by Immigration on arrival. Yes,
the airlines can be held responsible and fined, so most have elected to
deny boarding to anyone going to Thailand without either (1) an
outward bound ticket within 30 days or, (2) a Thai visum in your
passport.

It does sound like you have a visum, so there would be no problem. If
you don't, a simple solution is to purchase a refundable outward bound
ticket that you can present to the check-in agent at departure. On the
other hand, if you are entering without a visum and take the 30 day
entry permit on arrival, you would need to leave within 30 days
anyway. For a very cheap ticket out, try airasia...I have recently seen
tickets are cheap as 800 baht plus tax o/w from Bangkok to Singapore
there.
