Hi just got back from 16 day trip Bankok 4days, 10 days Samui. It was our first time in Thailand and we were not disapointed.Bankok we nevr really gao the chance to see it all but did our best in the 4 days allotted. Will definately be returning to bkk.Chaweng and Samui is growing rapidly and not really for the better big investment in buildings and plagued by timeshare "sales people".These people are a nuisance they constantly bombard English speaking people with their ficticious scratch card con trick, and if you decline they become aggressive and finally abusive. It looks like we just got to Samui before they really europeanise it completely, a beautifull island it is we stayed at the bottom end of Chaweng at First House Samui ,they were very good a thoroughly well run place I can't fault them, and the location is great, just out of the main area but easy to walk into the centre if thats what you want.Excellent value for money well worth a visit,if I was going back I would stay there again. They have thier own section of beach literally a few yards from Hotel or nearer still if you take a bungalow.Sorry to say Chaweng is a little too commercialised for me.Loved Samui airport and Bangkok Airlines are brilliant, just a big pity about all the development, last but not least the locals are very nice people in deed lets hope they don't change with "progress".John Benson
