Lightbulb Best place to learn Mandarin Chinese?

I want to spend 6 weeks this summer studying Mandarin and am trying to decide where to go. Is Taiwan or mainland China better? Any good schools to be recommended? I am at beginner level and would like to be in a place where in addition to learning the language I can also experience the culture, maybe even living with a family?
