Default my typical budget for 2

Hmm average is difficult ...depends where I go. I'm a budget traveler unlike most folk on this forum I think. Under 20000B would be my typical budget for a 2 week break in Thailand on a nice quiet beach on a relatively un-touristed island ....Ko Phayam for example ...including food, accommodation and transport to and from BKK.

Return fares for 2 (2nd class train fan sleeper)...............................1800
Return fares for 2 ferry .................................................. ................600
Beach front bungalow for two 12 nights @300/night .....................3600
Food and beer for 2................................................. ......approx 10,000
Extras .................................................. .......................................2000

Total............................................. .............................................18000

I am talking your accommodation paid and travel. Just your spending money on food, drinks, entertainment local transport etc. In other words your spending money. We have tended to average out at around 1,000 pounds for 3 weeks.
We have bought all we want to before and seen most things so we don't spend a lot on that.

Default Bali Expenditure

I know you guys are referring to Thai her but thought I would throw in my two bob's in about about Bali.

We are a family of four and excluding airfares and accommodation I budget on $100AUS a day for a two week stay. Some days we only spend a fraction of that, proved to my wife I could eat and drink (no grog) for less than 2 bucks AUS a day.

But then on the day we pay the tailor we probably spend 4 times our daily average.

For a long stay in Bali ie two months the daily budget drops about $70AUS a day.

Default I am also interested in how much to budget for and tipping etc;

same as you jax, a couple, but 4 weeks, what would you spend on average per day for food, drinks, local transport, entry fees.

We are average drinkers, well he is, she is usually the designated driver or when on holidays, the designated navigator, she drinks a lot less and navigates him back to the hotel. Funny but I can't even remember how or when I got that job, it just seems to have happened.

Where do you eat mostly, smaller places, larger upmarket, street stalls or a mix. What about tipping is it expected and if so how much or what would you see as acceptable.

Thank you
Colleen

we do tip and I think that it is becoming more expected.
We drink either a lot or not ?? No where near as much as we used to.
We do a mixture of upper market and small place eating. Very few street stall only late at night.
I think that we work out at about an average of 50 quid or 3,500 baht. varies a bit but works out around that . That is for anything other than accommodation and flights etc.
Bear in mind that now we don't do much during the day exept doss. we will hire a car for a couple of days and do that twice if we are there for 4 weeks.
