Thumbs up Making Personal Avatars

Avatars are the images that you see next to people's / registered user's names; mine is a little market girl from East Timor. I made this using Photoshop, a graphics program on my PC. The original photo showed much more around the little girl but I "cropped" just her face for my avatar.

When you register, is you go to "User CP" you will see you can add an avatar next to your name / "handle". I have put quite a few for you to chose from if you are OK with a "standard" avatar (which other people might also use), or you can make your own.

If you have a digital photo on your PC or on another web site, I recommend you try myImager.com - Your Everything Online Image Editor as this allows you to crop or select / use just part of a photo. The trick is to go to "file" on their site and select "import", then go to "edit" and select "crop". When you do this you then have to indicate where the top left and bottom right points are; it is that easy. The they have other features and effects you can play with. The trick is to try and get an image that is square and 100 pixels by 100 pixels as 100 pixels is the maximum height or width you can have for your avatar here and if you try uploading anything bigger, it will get resized down. So it is best to try and do this yourself on their site as the quality may be better.

There are plenty of free online avatar makers but most work around a basic face / body theme where you add hair, etc. to produce a cartoon type character. If you fancy doing this, try sites like Portrait Avatar Maker - I hope this helps you get something really personal and poignant Kyle

Ok Mark, I have read your info on the personal avatars. I dont need a program, I already have photos on my computer that are the right size etc, how can I bring over the photo to use instead of the pre defined ones. Its simple to do it for the Profile picture but how to edit the av.Not Worthy
Cheers Cathy

Default User CP

Look at the top navigation row for "User CP", click it, click edit avatars, delete old / current one, upload new one, bingo. Thumbs Up

Default Hi Guys

When you go to "User CP" (the link is on the left in the navigation area above), do you get the option "Edit Avatar"?
