Unhappy Shaky Ground!

The Disaster Factor

Do you let such things determine where you go, country and / or location wise (e.g. avoiding beach hotels)?

In Feb just after the tsunami we were staying on a beach hut in Kai bai on koh chang, early one evening i heard a bit of noise outside, dogs kids ect and went to look.
The tide had gone out for miles and people were walking way out to the small island outcrop,so i joined in !

A few days later I thought, that was an unusually low tide!? and I didnt even give it a thought at the time!

Even though I Knew we were in the Gulf and pretty safe I had forgotten the visions of people getting caught way out in the low tide before the water come rushing in when the tsunami hit.

Silly story i know but just shows how irresponsible i can be!

Mind you I would have looked a total idiot if I raised an alarm and started running up that steep hill from the beach!
