Default accor advantage plus

I'm in Australia and I've also signed up for accor advantage plus over the past few years with the promise that for ~$260 pa you get a free night. What I find is that every time I want to book a half decent hotel it is never available but if I pay for the room (sometimes can get 15% discount - maybe save $30 but end up spending this on breakfast anyway) can always get it. For the free nights the $200 rooms are never available. Last year could only use my "free" night on a room at an ibis hotel value ~ $80-$100/night, so it was a waste - a **** room in a **** location. The room was a tiny plasticky module which my wife felt instantly claustrophobic in. My experience also supports that you need to plan at least 2 months ahead to get anywhere decent. If accor didn't let you bank an extra night each year it would hardly be worth it. better to go where you want and pay for it instead of putting up with a free night for the sake of it in some god-awful place you didn't want to go anyway! i think use the program to boost the occupancy rate at their crappier places.

Mate, what **** !!
How did you attempt to find you room.... by walking into each hotel ?
As another contributor rightly stated, if you can't book your room, you are computer illiterate ( or stupid ).
To counter what you have said, I've booked online a free night 48 hours in advance.
Where were you looking at staying ?? Bullamakanka, outback WA ???

As the supporters say, don't renew, help us keep numbers down, so the supporters get even more choice. Just like discouraging people not to join Qantas Club..... I'd rather YOU not be there !!!!

Thumbs up Great Value from Advantage plus

I love my Advantage Plus card and have had it for 11 years now
I use it often and have seen the card evolve to now include more discounts at varied places around the Country
My family and I eat out for breakfast and find this amazing value
We love to eat a seafood buffet for 1/2 price.
My girlfriends can eat out at 1/2 price too withthe 3 allotted 50% off vouchers
I love the red hot rooms and discounts offered on accomodation
I have been lucky enough to get a discounted rate in canberra over the past two years when my sons compete in regional athletics and until now they also have eaten for free so last year $99 and this year $116
Not bad..
If you sign up again, ask about a specific date for a specific hotel for your complimentary night and I bet the person selling you your membership will try and find you that night.
I do not like the pressure selling of some staff and asked for the team member I had to be changed after she pestered and pestered me when my dear dadin Law was passing away..* ( my only gripe but easily solved)
I have used a free night in Singapore and was upgraded without asking.
My family have received great discounts many times, including member red hot rooms, cruise discounts as well as dining benefits that are so well worth it
So far this year
Ibis Wollongong Breakfast.. $20 saving $20 x 5 = $100
Novotel Brighton Dinner Between $40 and $80 x 3= $200
Bondi Ribs Dinner saved 20% =$16
2 rooms Canberra Novotel @ 50 % discount $116
Mercure Sydney included breakfast $40
Drinks in winter at 15% off $50

are you getting the picture
Nobody gives things away for free You have to use the card and spend money to save money
The Complimentary night is something that you actually pay for and should help you to take advantage of a night away with someone you love...

Angry Not happy

Just a very quick warning - ensure that when you book your free night that it is within the period of membership. Yes of course you are all aware of this fact - you better be, no one else will make you aware of this fact.

Accor will honour this arrangement if you renew your membership for the next 12 months - for another $299!!

Default Accor advantage plus - don't buy!

I just renewed after being told that this year's subscription would be the same as last year ($ 231). I chekced my credit card statement this morning and found they had debited $ 299. This just about sums up why you can't trust them. They are call centre staff on commission and they will say anythning to get a sale or renewal.

I also have had great trouble getting my free night at a decent hotel. One year they sold me the Victoria Hotel in Melbourne, which is an absolute dive. Strangely enough, the Sofitel is never available.

Don't deal with them.

You are in the imnority. The dvanatge Plus card is a rip off. My experience is you cannot get the hotel you want in less than 3 months. They promise the world when youare signing up and don't deliver. Stay away!

Thumbs down Adantage plus NOT

I have been member since 2007 and have only been able to use my free night once...the online system is terribly set up and not at all user friendly...i can not use my2 free nights accumulated during the one booking...they have no family rooms t offer from bundaberg to coffs harbour...it is a crock and an absolute waste of money time energy and very unsatisfactory that a compnay can conitune to use these procedures. A system needs to be brought in line with what custmers need and require for holidays not just business profitability...wake advantage plus and support your members rather than always looking at your bottom line.

not happy at all
Bianca

Angry Mr

I have been a member this year and I wish that I had read this forum prior to joining this good for nothing other than a tooth pick card.
I would start to tell you about it but it just frustrates me top much, all to say that my expirence is nothing short of a disgrace with bookings that were made and after long flights arriving to the hotel to find out they sold my room, not once or twice but many occasions has this type of procedure been experience in my brief encounter.
Warning if you are thinking about joining DON'T
