Default Advice for 20 days in Malaysia

Hi

Me, my partner and our 1 year old son have 20 days to spend in Malaysia. We would like to go somewhere with good facilities, nice beaches and good hotels/resorts.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I have heard of tioman island but don't know much about it? Another option for us is to fly to Koh Samui from KL, which I see is cheap enough to do.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers

Grant

I'd start with KL and then Koh Samui as you indicated. Get a taste for a bigger city and then head out to an island,

Hello,

You are thinking right tioman island is a very good place for holidays in Malaysia you can ask from any person who is familiar and have enough knowledge about that place. Koh Samui is also good place i never been there but i heard very much about that place. and you can travel at soem more places like

Mulu Caves - unique earth formations
Sipadan and Layang Layang - World's top dive sites
Mount Kinabalu - for its flora diversity
Melaka historical town.

with 20 days you can definitely head over to east Malaysia area, like Kota Kinabalu in Sabah. Spend about 5-6 days. I have suggestions in my blog.

as for the other 2 weeks, you can spend it on an island as suggested earlier, at Kuala Lumpur, the capital city, and also move to other places like Penang and Malacca. If you want something different, you can visit the smaller cities/towns like Ipoh too. Go up to Cameron Highlands for the cool weather and to experience tea plantations etc.

There are plenty of places in Malaysia where you can enjoy your perfect family trip. There are number of National parks that houses different varieties of species. Yes Tioman Island is located off the east coast of Malaysia and is considered one of the most beautiful Islands of the world. However, besides, Tioman Island; Panqkor Islands, Parhentian Islands and Redang Islands are must visit islands. There are six airports in Malaysia in which Kuala Lumpur International Airport is highly recommended to you. And yes! Always visit Malaysia with Malaysia Airlines.

Default What to do with your 20 days!

I've been to Tioman and thouroughly enjoyed myself there. It has one of the best dive sites in Asia but the beaches are not as fantastic. You won't find clear blue waters there. But if you go to Thailand , you can find beaches with white sand and clear waters at Koh Phi Phi , Koh Samui and other beaches. The resorts around there are more commercialised hence more comfortable as well. I think the rates are higher there too if i can remember correctly. I'd definitely go to Chinatown in KL if i have the time , you can bargain for cheap stuff there and eat great food! Also ,since you have 20 days ,you may want to check out the indoor themepark at the largest shopping centre in Malaysia, Berjaya Times Square.

hope this helped
