Default Petronas Towers Tickets

An embarrassing confession from me: I've spent a good amount of time in KL on a few separate trips and never once made it up the Petronas Towers Yes, I know that's bad... What's the secret with the getting tickets for it? I saw a counter in the KLCC basement that supposedly gave away tickets (it's free, right?) but was always closed. Do you have to go early doors? I swear I was there early one morning but it was closed... maybe I was just unlucky with the days.

Does anyone know any other sneaky ways to get tickets without destroying a holiday lie-in or scrumming it with the other tourists in a queue?

Also, can you walk along the connecting bridge of the towers, or is it closed to the public?

Steve, even though I'm a Malaysian, I've never been up to the Petronas Towers! But I can find out for you when I go to KL next coz my son works near there.

sorry you have to queue and there are only a limited amount each day .
further to your message on Thailand page re dongles , these are not yet available in Malaysia , but you can connect to internet with a suitable 3g mobile phone with Digi . Also buy yourself a Digi sim , put in phone if unlocked , and use you will not believe the rates , super super cheap to both mobile and land lines , Alan

Thumbs up

Thanks chaps... good to know about 3G connectivity in Malaysia too, Alan! Looks like a better destination than Thailand for a digital nomad...

cheers
Steve

Most people say to line up very early to get your tickets, but....MOST.. people line up early. If you go later in the morning say around 9.30 the queue is much shorter.

The view from the crosswalk is amazing and well worth the effort.

We lined up about 8 am for our free tickets. The ticket booth opens at 8.30. The line snaked all around the basement. We eventually got given a time slot of 12.30 for our visit. The visit takes about 1/2 hour with 10 mins approx on the sky bridge. Views were good - glad to say we did it. I believe about 1400 tickets are issued each day and there is a digital display showing the time slots as they are filled. I think between 10 -20 people on each visit?

Tickets are free
Get up early and get in line (recommend you reach there by 7:00 AM)
you can select the time at which you want to visit the sky bridge

hope it helps

Tickets are Free. But you got to get there early. Each ticket they issue out gives you a precise visiting period so that the sky bridge does not get overcrowded. You definitely need to get to the ticket booth way before the counter is open. By the time its open it will already be too late.
