Thumbs up

Hi, thanks for your post. Here are some links I found:

Japan Tsunami Appeal | British Red Cross
Home : Save the Children UK
https://www.paypal-donations.co.uk/campaign_13.html

These will help in the short-term. In the longer term, you can support the affected area of Japan by visiting it and put some money back into the broken economy. I'm considering doing a cycling trip across the whole of Japan either later in the year or next year, and if it goes ahead I will be sure to visit the affected areas to support their economy.

My heart really goes out to the people in my home country Japan.
Watching the footage of the destruction was unbelievable, and the events following have been catastrophic and
my heart aches at what is happening in Japan.

Julietita ,

According to the stories I heard from my family and friends in Japan,
Right now , most organization request that people make donations in the form of $money$ that can
be used to appropriately purchase what is mostly needed.

If you are kindly going to donate some money to help Japan,
I suggest following organizations.

1. Kyoudou Bokin ( Akaihane ) Disaster Relief to JAPAN EARTHQUAKE
is a good place.
I am joining the fundrasing event for Japan this weekend and money raised will be donated to this organization.

2.I have made my private donations to ' Winds Japan'
_Winds_Japan__English_Edition
Its a small organization but donation go directly to the people in need.

3. Here's the link you can donate directly to RedCross Japan.
Resources related to the 2011 Japan crisis
I hear so many different opinions about Red Cross (especially RedCross US ),
Personally, somehow i am not 100% sure that
all donations to Japan through Red Cross overseas would actually reach Japan.

Thanks

What do you want to know - how to help out? Giving to one of the organisations listed above is one way. Or spend your holiday there to help their economy...

It's been 5 weeks since the disaster ,
and still there are dozens of very strong aftershocks on and off.

Last weeks one was a 7.4, but not as damaging as the original one.
(3 killed and handreds are injured )
They had a 6.6 in Shizuoka (Near Mt Fuji area ) couple of days ago which is not related to the original Tokai Earthquake.

It might be not the safe time to go Japan right now and best avoided....

Its sad to say because
Japan needs tourists right now ,more than ever, its economy is suffering,
I wish I could buy a ticket and start spending money in Tokyo!
But I'm not sure when I will go back to Japan and do that next.

Quite frankly the country's desire to cater to tourists is not high at this point though .
I believe tourists gotta give it some time.

few reasons :
Power /fuel shortages, safety concern about food / water,
fear of nuclear disaster , (Japan's nuclear disaster was Tuesday upgraded to the top level of seven )
food shortages (travelling in Japan without tasting their best food...!? no way !)

well, I heard good news also.
Food and aid flows in affected area ,
Hanami (cherry blossom viewing parties) will go forward this week,
The trains are running again, Tokyo Disneyland re-opend again,
Food is being re-stocked in shops and restaurants...(still limited i guess)

I wish fast recovery and normalization of life in Japan :)

Everytime i hear about what is going on over there and how bad things are it makes me so sad, and also very worried for my friends who live over there.

I havnt heard from one of them in a few weeks, which is only making me more worried

meanwhile another friends birthday is coming up in may. i wanted to go over to Japan to spend his birthday with him, but it probably isnt safe to go over right now.

i really wish things would improve for Japan.
