I don't want to always be the bearer of bad news but yet another close friend has a horror tale to tell about tourism in Thailand. His mum went to Krabi and outside the airport took a taxi into town. Well the taxi driver was actually not a taxi driver but a crook pretending to be a taxi and my friend's mum was robbed of all her holiday money. She went to the police to report the crime and claims that they didn't show any interest and more or less treated her like she was some nut case making it all up. So I suppose the warning should be best stick with the registered taxis at Thailand's airports and don't trust any of those freelance taxi drivers that hang around outside with private cars.
