Default How to have a fun trip?

Hello everyone,

I could use some advice!

I have stayed in Hong Kong for about a month, I made some new friends, but also spent a lot of days on my own. Really unfortunate, because I am in Hong Kong for Christ's sake :P

My dad lives in Hong Kong, so I stayed at his place. It seemed like a good idea, but it wasn't. In a hostel at least you'll meet new people. To be honest, I am a very social guy, pretty laid-back but I felt unable to 'connect' with the people here because I spent most of my time reading in cafes. Sure, I struck up some conversations, but most of the time it was clear that these people were busy as well and I was clearly in the wrong place! In fact, being in Hong Kong isn't that different from living in any other big city, the way I went about it...

I am a little disappointed with myself. What should I try to do next time, going some place unfamiliar? How can I make I sure I at least have social holiday, meeting lots of new people?

Thanks!

Sam

I'm now so used in travelling alone and I'm taking flights regularly on weekends. The one thing I've learned is to pack light and smart, I know at first it's hard to do it but you'll soon realize how great it is to travel with light bags. Hong Kong is a small place and once you lodge into a hotel, you can just leave some of your stuffs there.
