Default Thailand Honeymoon Advice

Hi All,

My future husband and I are planning our first trip to Thailand in Febuary 2011 for our Honeymoon. We will be traveling from Toronto and staying three weeks. We will be landing in Bangkok and using domestic flights to get around.. We are very social and enjoy the night life, but also want time for R&R..

Bangkok - 3 days
Chaing Mai - 4 days
Phuket/PhiPhi/Patong - 8 days
Koh Samui - 5 days
Bangkok for one day before the flight.

My question is....
#1 Is this too much for one trip?
#2 We are looking to stay in budget/moderatley prices beachfront huts. Any suggestions?
#3 Can anyone recommed a tatoo studio?

Thanks for all of your help :)

1 - Not enough in my opinion! :p Nah joking. Looks great. (Btw Patong is a beach on Phuket).
2 - How much are you looking to pay? Cheapest huts i think start around 200 - 300 Baht. Mid-range maybe 500 - 1,500. Really nice huts (luxury) go for 2,000 - 3,000.
3 - Sorry can't help here. Not my bag.

Good luck!

Thanks Colonel Mustard,

We want to book a nice hotel upon arrival into Bagkok, to recover from the Jetlag.

Then do a little hardcore backpacking, 200-1500b and we want to stay in a nice hut (1500-3000) for the last few days.

Any suggestions?

Is it rude to ask to see the huts/rooms before booking? Or is that customary?

Personally i ALWAYS check the room/hut before agreeing to stay in it. Depending on the season/area you may be able haggle prices.

Are you into nice and quiet or more lively party places? I'm certainly no expert on recommendations as i'm a Thailand newb but i stayed at a nice place on Lamai beach on Samui called Sunrise Bungalows. It's on the South end by the grandmother and grandfather rocks and was really nice. Lamai is one of the 2 touristy beaches (Chaweng being the other) so may not be your cup of tea.

That's a lot of beach time? I'll just toss in 2 cents about Hua Hin--3 hrs south of BKK. We're not touristy beach bums (and older--50ish) so it satisfied a break from Bangkok--historical/cultural, small/fun/hip low key beach town. We also liked Kanchanaburi (Kwai River) just otuside BKK the otehr way.

Thanks for the tip! We are looking to hit Lamai, so I will keep my eye out for that hotel.
We are in for a little party, a little R&R seclusion. We want to go elephant trekking in Chaing Mai, got to the Pearl farm & maya bay in Phuket and scuba diving in Ko Samui.

Thanks kyshel, I was looking into River Kwai, but I thought it would be adding to much to the trip. Do you think its all do-able?
Were in our late 20's, almost 30's ;) We are intrested in a little bit of everything.
Thank you for your advice.

20 is a lot, I think you can see even more than just thailand if you have 3 weeks, but hey that's just me.

Are you planning to visit any other small islands in the area of Phuket/PhiPhi/Patong/Koh Samui or just them?

About hotels, I would recommend getting one in advance, at least in Bangkok.

You think so? I would love to jump over to Loas or Japan.. But Im worried about packing so much in - then if we get sick..

We wanted to go to Phuket, then spend a few days in Phi Phi - doing the tourist thing.

Then when we go to Ko Samui - we might venture to Ko Tao as well.

We were thinking of booking Bangkok in advance, and getting a nicer place - to re-coop from the 25hr traveling.

If you have any recommendations, I would love to hear them!

Thanks again!
