| | Hi Everyone
Just signed up for the forum and it looks like it's going to be a nice thing for us in planning our trip to Thailand this coming June. We've been pouring through guide books, but having a place to actually have a human being answer questions is very reassuring. My wife and I are Montessori school teachers in southern Indiana who have traveled far and wide, car camping all around the US, Canada and Alaska, but this is our first trip of this sort. So we're looking forward to finding old threads about the basics of traveling in SW Asia. Thus, hello!

Hi Steve and congratulations on the purchase of travelforum.org.
I too have been travelling to SE Asia for over 22 years . I have the advantage of living on the west coast of Australia with my husband & two teenage children. This now gives us endless opportunities for cheap air travel as there seems to be a permanent battle of the airlines to out do each other for the cheapest air tickets available.
As a family we have been to Bali many times & plan to return in Jan . We have travelled to many places in Malaysia and often stopped over in Singapore on our journey, so I'm glad you are adding those forums soon.
We love Phuket and have been there 3 times.
Next July we will finally visit Bangkok and Hanoi in Vietnam plus a stopover in KL on our way home.

Hi Nezz,
Nice to meet you! I've just added the Malaysia & Singapore Travel Forum to the site today. They're pretty barren at the mo, so feel free to post to your heart's content! |

Singapore is my next favourite city to Bangkok so I shall try and think of something interesting to post.

Hi I am Jackie and i am classed as a travel fossil on this site (thanks Mark)
We went to Thailand first in 1999 for our silver wedding anniversary. I fell in love with it and in particular Koh Samui. We have since visited 8 times for periods of a month or so. Last year we spent 10 weeks in Thailand and a little while in Vietnam.
We have been to Koh Lanta, phuket, Samui, Krabi, Phi Phi, Bangkok and stayed in different areas in all of them.
I have made some enduring friendships on the site that we follow with emails and on FB.
I think that it would be fair to say that I am more in love with Thailand than Dave my husband.
We are well travelled and have travelled widley in Europe the caribbean , Africa and we have cruised as well. I think that overall the standard of accommodation and value for money is excellent in Thailand.
I am not working due to ill health but I do some voluntary work visiting prisinors in the cells of police stations as well as sitting on a number of community boards. I also have a regular spot on the radio which I love.

Hi Friends,
I am Jyotirmoy from New Delhi, India. I am an electronics engineer doing research on behalf of a telecom company.
I am an avid traveler and also passionate about music, literature, films and food. I am a diehard dead head.
Not much of my face is visible due to dense foliage, mostly salt less pepper and my right hand always knows what my left hand is doing.

| | Gede, Jyotirmoy! Jackie, it's lovely to read some background on you, I've read a lot of your posts and seen some of your travel pics too. Sorry to hear you are not well at the moment but good to hear you can manage some voluntary work, you can get a lot out of that. I've considered volunteering out in Thailand before now, but most places seem to charge for the pleasure!
By the way, I'm sure you're used to the "travel fossil" title quite now - it's quite endearing - but if you did want me to change it, I have the power! Perhaps "Travel Forum Guru" would be more apt? |
