Unhappy Hi David

Yes, it is a bit quiet. It is weird as we had a ton of visitors not so long ago (real ones, not so called "bots") and very few posted anything. So I lifted the restriction that you had to register to post first on the basis that maybe submitting their email address in these days of mass spam was the problem.

I do not check anywhere near as much search engine rankings any more (how well the site does for searches on Google, etc.) but it is number 1 for Thailand travel forum as I just checked now, so that seems ok. I think some of the reason is that many former forum addicts (not just this one) have either worn out on forums and / or started blogs themselves; which is why I added a blog section here but no big takers so far

It is also quiet on the independent travel scene, I know this for fact from others and from my own reservations site. A combination of financial worries over the economy, the environment and the fact getting on a huge carbon emitting airplane does nothing to help, the run up to Xmas making it quiet anyway with people spending more time in the real world (not the cyber world) and have less $ and therefore less travel historically at this time of the year anyway.

If you have any ideas of any improvements I can make to the forums to help, I am always ears open, but I think I have done as much as I can; I even researched the forum software to the point of buying the one that the search engines like the most to make sure postings were as visible on searches as possible.

Winter scene (taken last year) from my "office" (smallest bedroom in the top corner of our house in Portugal) taken last year.

Exclamation Oh BTW

I had to tighten the security a bit as I was getting increased numbers of spam and a certain oik in Bali trying to post hate message attempts. As a consequence some posts from less trusted (the scripts can determine trust levels based on a number of parameters) members get put into a moderation queue where I have to approve them first. So these are not making the forum immediately as they used to, when you are perhaps online. Hopefully I can put the controls back to normal soon but having messages for lonely girls in China (actually defrauding men in Nigeria working scams from Internet Cafes for lonely western men stupid enough to send money to pretty little girls they have never net and do not exist), travel site owners trying to post advertisements for cruises in Egypt, etc. and male impotence ads does nothing for the forums at all of course (they not just put real people off but can get the site penalties with search engines).
