Clemency for the Bali bombers - what do you think?

Australian Amnesty International / Bali Bombers Story

So the Australian branch of Amnesty International has called upon Jakarta to spare the lives of the Bali bombers on the pretext that all forms of human killings are wrong. Australia as a nation abolished the death penalty in 1973. Victims, relatives / friends of victims and many Australians generally have shown outrage at Amnesty International for this plea. The Australian Government has refused to ask for clemency for the bombers.

Is this a case of double standards?
Is this a case of racism (that Indonesian lives are not worth as much as Australian lives)?

I am only asking the questions, not making judgments.

My motivation for asking stems from the execution of Saddam Hussein with the public blessing of then British Prime Minister Tony Blair, an alleged devout (converted) Catholic and otherwise staunch supporter of there being no such capital punishment. I personally was against what happened because I believed it was US not Iraqi or International law and done to keep Saddam quiet about how the US previously had armed and supported the tyrant knowing he did what he did. Yes, the Bali bombers are somewhat different to Saddam. My only other observation is that the Indonesian state has sentenced the Bali bombers to death yet has not outlawed still to this day the terrorist organization for which they committed their hate crime. I just wonder if their execution will more be a case of sweeping (politically whitewashing) this embarrassing fact under the carpet rather than getting to the full truth and seeing justice done. After all, former Indonesian president Gus Dur claims that the bombers had the help of elements within the Indonesian military.
