Step 1) Elected government (yes I know last time Thaksin held on to power after a hung election courtesy of the constitution) is protested against by opposition (which enjoys the support of powerful families aligned to the royal family and the army).
Step 2) People who should keep their mouths shut as it is not their place to open them, e.g. the Thai Election Commission say they think the government should be replaced (the government that was elected just a few months ago and won by majority). Citing the problems caused by the opposition party as reason for removing the government, plus allegations the government bought votes (and the opposition didn't!).
Step 3) Mutterings by the army that they will not tolerate civil unrest and have the right to act (but not against the trouble makers).
