So there I was yesterday, faced with the bleak prospect of my last cup of coffee, an essential morning blast of a fix, with Balinese coffee beans; I mix about 75% Columbian, 25% Balinese. Oh well, tomorrow (now today) would be somehow lesser. So yesterday we had to do our rest of the week shopping, a task I hate but dare not leave my wife to do alone. And there, in the coffee section, a new arrival was....................
OK, not Bali coffee, but East Timor coffee, which is pretty much the same. So today, instead of being without, I am with something different and in some ways better. I regret not having Balinese coffee beans, supporting a Balinese owned non-tourism (Bali needs diversity) operation, but I am glad in other ways I am no longer supporting Indonesia (sorry, I love Bali but Indonesia is a hell hole full of street dogs). The little girl whose picture is on this forum is, or hopefully was (I hope she is in school now) a street seller in East Timor. I drink my coffee and I toast her better fortune and that of her county away from Indonesia. I hope to see West Papua achieve their legal right to self-determination soon.
Mmm, nice coffee
