Default weekend again

weekend again and rain here - how unusual !
was going to go to van as season starts tommorrow but a bit cold to stay yet although we have central heating and double glazing there. Don't mind the cold as much as the rain.
Hope you all have a good one.

Hi Jax,

I know what you mean about the rain, makes everything miserable. February is usually the hottest month in Sydney but we have had so much rain and storms, in fact my area was a disaster zone because of recent hail damage. Usually it's soo hot by now but I have actually had the heater on, roll Thailand holiday !!

At weekends I umpire Men's hockey - Ladies is like watching paint dry and I can say that 'cos I am a lady!

The League I umpire in is the largest geopgraphical one in England and Wales covering, for those of you in the UK or good at geography, from Cornwall in the South West up thriugh Somertset and Avon, cross to Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and across to South Wales as far as Pembrokeshire and Aberystwyth.

The level I do is anything just below the top two divisions and above those in the County areas.

Today I gave a red card which means that the player has an automatic 16 day suspension with no appeal. It was a niggly game and a couple of players had been sin bined for 5 minutes for dissent and it carried on so I gave the captain a team yellow for not controlling his players. He did not like this (putting it mildly!) and argued with me that I couldn't do this etc. Having explained that I could and why I had done it he still carried on, even after being warned he was talking himself onto another card and so he had the red. Well - he didn't like that!!!!

I can't understand why football doesn't do this. When I see players surround the referee and what they say (easy to lipread the swear words!). Send them off, which is what happens in rugby and it'll only be a couple of weeks before the behaviour improves.

We all know the problem is the money as the little darlings earn so much that the managers want them on the pitch as do the club owners. I don't watch football much these days as it annoys me so much.

I remember watchind a six nations rugby game a few years ago when Maryin Johnson of England was spoken to by the referee for bad behavious and there he was, towering above the ref in size and bulk and calling him "sir" and saying sorry.

Sorry from me as well as this all really annoys me as the behaviour of the professional football player at the top end is one of the problems of society.

Rant over!!!

I have always wished that my IQ was low enough to understand or want to watch football.
I get wound up about what they earn and see it as being imoral as they never win a tap.
