Going to PB for a night on the way to Lombok. Has anyone any experiences with local accommodation? Thanks Hilly

Cool Hi Hilly

It was 5 years ago but I did look myself and found nothing good. There are a number of hotels along the beach to the headland, but I was not so impressed with the quality even allowing for the fact they were budget. It is a shame as Padang Bai is such a nice beach, although spoiled by child hawkers when I sat and had lunch there last. I hate saying no to kids selling pencils but it is a rock and a hard space. What is worse if you give to one, they all come in their drones. In the end I had to move restaurant just to be able to eat; the first one on the left (off the beach) does / did great satay. Personally I would stay in Candi overnight.

Serangan Inn II (Serangan Inn Dua) Tel 0363/41425 is a spotless place at the top of the hill (follow the road along the side of the market and it is at the end) - about 10 mins walk from the ferry terminal - it's spotless and has double rooms from Rp75,000 to Rp300,000 (be sure to bargain at this time of year) - hot water and air-con in the most expensive - and there are fabulous deep verandahs on the upper storeys for relaxing. Have a good trip.
