Default Looking for engagement ring in Bali

Hi so am traveling to Bali on the 27th of Dec for two weeks with my love who I plan on asking to marry me while there. Trip of a lifetime for us both so looking to buy her engagement ring there and wondering about a good place to shop...I know silver is common but looking for a diamond. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Default Hi Fisherman

If you want to buy a Gold Ring grab an taksi and head into Denpassar and ask the driver to take you to "Gold Street".

There are about 20 gold shops in this street. Just visit them one by one and see if something tickles your future wifes fancy.

Ask them for the carat and also price per carat. They are all about the same but you may see something in one and not the other.

They can also make to order if you have time.

Good Luck and Congrats in advane.

I love your idea, fisherman - very romantic - but here's a couple of suggestions:

-source a diamond ring at a reputable local shop in your home country and bring it with you (keep it securely on your person at all times!). This saves you a) from being potentially ripped off in Bali, and b) of the stress of finding something appropriate when you should just be enjoying your holiday.

or

-buy a ceremonial/symbolic ring to propose with - something cheap (personally if I were to propose to a girl, I think I would use one of those edible ring sweets you get ). This saves you the worry of transporting something valuable on your person through customs / around Bali, and also then your other half can choose her own ring, either in Bali or at home, depending on whether you find something suitable (and there is no stress/rush to find something, you can do it at your leisure).

Just a couple of ideas... but best of luck and many happy returns!
