Default Bali for Seniors

We`ve done a bit of Asian travel but never to Bali. Would appreciate suggestions for this area. Our preferences:
We are a senior couple (late 70s)
Accommodation 41/2 or 5 star.
Lots of music and dancing but up market orientated.
Some sightseeing but not too scruffy.
Resort OK ( if v.g.) but within walk or short taxi to markets/ entertainment.
Stay for about 7 to 10 days.
Not interested in Bali beaches except for a nice view.

Thanks all, for any suggestions.

Default Some Suggestions

Hi,

I think the best thing you initially need to do is work out your location then hone in on the accomodation.

From your post it seems that cost of accomodation is not an issue so my suggestion would be an up market private villa in Seminyak somewhere nearby to Jalan Kayu Aya - this is the street name. This will be close to shopping, markets and some of the best restaurants in Bali. A villa in this area will come with staff including a driver, maid(s), gardner/pool boy and maybe a cook.

Other areas for up market accomodation in resorts would be Nusa Dua plenty to choose from but not my cuppa tea.

Where ever you choose you can grab a driver for sight seeing and visiting Ubud for a cultural experience is only an hour or so away.

Any other questions please let me know.

to the forum, Respigi. Aside from Larry's excellent suggestions, you may also wish to consider the Oberoi hotel in Seminyak. It's a fine five-star property. Seminyak tends to be "a cut above" Kuta/Legian, so you might find more upmarket music venues there. The Oberoi themselves put on Balinese dance performances on Thursdays and Saturdays, if that interests you.

Otherwise, a pool villa is an excellent choice if you enjoy privacy and lots of space.

if you feel the need.

Steve and I will try and guide you through the maze of accomodation options there are.

Visit Bali once and I think you will be addicted.

Hi,

I think Nusa Dua, Seminyak or Ubud area is great for you. Those are relaxing and comfortable area but still not so far from the airport. There are so many villas in Seminyak and Ubud and resorts especially in Nusa Dua.

I hope you will like Bali :)

Default Bali for Seniors

Again thanks. So OK on Seminyak. I think I`ll have to come down on the 5 star to 4 star.
I`m trying to select a hotel, but one with a bar and music to shuffle to of a night. Going to each one and inquiring is proving to be a complex job.
Does anyone know of one that would have this, or a method of including this option when selecting?

I`ve located this resort which seems fine. Only thing is it seems to be far from any action. Would appreciate any comments if anyone knows this place.

" Location Grand Mirage Resort

Nestled among the lush coconut trees and the golden sand of Nusa Dua, Grand Mirage Resort and Thalasso Bali is one of leading all inclusive luxury resorts in Bali. Located only 25 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport, this hotel is capable in creating the feel of home while providing the best modern comfort and top class of a 5 star resort"
Thanks for any comments.

They have suites, hotel rooms and villa's. They have live music every night and I think the location will suite you. Plenty of shops and restaurants in this area.

THE HAVEN Seminyak - Bali
