Lightbulb Bintang survey

OK, Mark has declared his next day headache free tolerance to Bintang as "a few". A few small or large? My best effort on a night was at Murni Warung in Ubud where I enjoyed 5 large and a very specially spiced up ayum kari followed by a G&T back at my bungalow (as you would!). I had a definite headache the next day..... 8.00 a.m. cooking class at Casa Luna... the glass of green thick stuff at the market seemed to help!

Poll question, how many long necks (besar) of Bintang in an evening sitting does it take to induce a headache the next day.

Default Bintang Survey

...I am not a beer drinker, however, I do remember a heavy night on Mekong Whisky many years ago.

Island of Koh Samui, party on the beach and the Mekong Whisky was going down a treat. Next day could hardly move without wanting to be sick. Slowly dragged my poor body to the restaurant for some breakfast which I hoped would help. A cute little puppy ran into the restaurant, stopped beside me and vomited right there on the floor. Took all my strength to hold on to my breakfast and a week to get over the hangover.

These days the odd gin and tonic or a vodka and tonic pre-dinner is all I can manage in Bali.

Catherine

I put 5 large bintang and I'm done ...that is in one sitting, not daily consumption of course.

Lightbulb Beer in Bali

We we first started going to Bali many years ago the only beer I would drink was San Miguel - the one in the green bottle - that I think was produced under license in Indonesia, not the current one in the brown bottle.

Then some years later it was not available. I tried Anker - this was absolute rubbish and Bali Hai was not much better - so it has been Bintang every since San Miguel disappeared.

Coming back to the poll many years ago I would voted for it tastes like water etc, but now I am older, wiser and a bit more responsible 5 tallies in one sitting is enough for me.

Since our trip last year, I am a convert to the Storm brews (Sand Storm, Red Dawn and Black Moon). This time in 3 weeks, I expect to be sipping one of the 3 in Ubud, but I'll settle for a Bintang or 2!

Cheers,

Craig
