Default Bali in January 2012

Hi everyone,

We are three guys from Denmark going to Bali in January 2012.

Can anyone give us some advise on must-see places? We're going for two weeks, probably one active week and one week of absolute relaxation. ;)

Also, if anyone wants to meet up, let us know!

Thanks.

Have a great day!

Default Places to see

Cultural and Ancient Sites:

The Mother Temple at Besakih - the Largest Temple on Bali
Goa Gaja - Elephant Cave
Gunung Kawi
Ulu Watu - Cliff top temple at southern tip of Bali
Suka Wati Market
Lake Batur and Mount Batur, Kintomani Crater Lake
Lake Bratan

Places of interest:

The Elephant Park at Taro, north of Ubud
White Water Rafting
The Bird Park and Reptile Park
Bali Marine Park - more of a zoo but not to be confused with the other zoo which is not nearly as interesting or impressive.

Check out some tour offices and see what they have to offer. Sometimes it's easier to get someone to drive you around rather than hire a car and do it yourself. Much nicer to sit back and take in the scenery. Traffic is crazy so best to have someone who is more used to it and knows how to get around. They will be able to take you to several places in the one day. As there are 3 of you perhaps you could make sure there's nobody else crammed in - unless of course you want to.

Have a wonderful time, keep safe and enjoy.

Catherine

A buddy and I will also be there in Jan. We only booked Kuta Beach for New Years. The rest of the trip we will be on scooters driving the island. Seems like a neat way to see the island.

Default Weather

Hey guys,
aren't you little bit worried about the weather in january? I've just found super cheap flights to Bali for january, but I don't want to be stuck in my room the whole day because of the rain.. but Bali must be so awesome!:) I can't decide where I should go!:)

Bali Palm

The flights are cheap in January because of the rain - it's low season, and fewer tourists want to go.

I was in Bali at the end of February last year, which is something like the second-rainiest month, and I can't recall much rain. I remember a few overcast days but overall the weather was pleasant. Of course, that's just a random snapshot - you could end up with a week of rain like your friend, or you could end up with perfectly fine weather.

It depends what kind of holiday you are after. If you are a sun-chaser, then January is probably not the best time to go to Bali. If you're more about the food, shops, sights and sounds, then January will be fine for you... just pack an umbrella!

Default yram

I would suggest you might enjoy white water rafting and a 4 wheel drive trip around the rain forests, down hill cycling and if you havn't been to Thailand, an elephant ride - the Taro park is great.
Waterbom Park in Tuban is good fun.
You havn't said where you are staying but you will find many kiosks on the street offering trips so getting anywhere won't be a problem. Alternatively, you could hire a driver and set your own itinerary. Have fun.

Default 3 denmark guys

you have to go to safari park, also to Lovina to swim with the dolphins, depending on where you are staying will depend on where you eat, Posers pub is good to eat, best is mozzerellas, both in legian.
Legends bar is also in legian.
Kuta water bomb park is a hoot.
More expensive places to eat are Ku de Ta, in seminyak and also Cocoon, but you will probably spot a couple of celebritys while you are there.

Just remember that it is the rainy season at this time of year.
