Default contiki bali resort and general bali queery

Hi, i have booked a week stay in the contiki bali resort in august via STA Travel, before i fly on to australia, has any one stayed there, if so what was your opionion of it.
also, at that time of year is there a huge problem with mosquitos, would a net be advisable to take with me? and does any one know if the electricity plug adapter i have bought to convert my uk plugs to australia, will work in bali or do i need to get a different adapter.
also what recommendation is there on currency, do i get some cash in the bali currency, or am i better to take travelers cheques with me, and if so in what currency, GB£, AU$ or US$ ? which is easier to exchange in bali

Haven't stayed at Contiki (I'm too old!!) - try googling contiki reviews.
Mosquitos are not, in my opinion, a huge problem umless you have an allergy. You can buy a net there if you need to.
If your adapter is not the correct one, you can buy one in Bali. (I think Matahari - dept store - sells them).
I usually take cash and a credit card for backup. Any of the currencies you quote would be o.k. and I'm sure Contiki would have safety deposit boxes.
Enjoy!!!

Wendy

Default Currency

The only thing I can add is that is probably better to take money/TC in your own currency as it will be easier to work out prices when they are quoted in RUP's. eg If you are an aussie and take American $ then you need to make two calculations ie from US$ to AUS$ to IndoRUP. Much easier to only do one calculation.

I have bought adapters at Matahari Dept Store in Kuta Square, in the hardware area and found them cheaper in Bali that at home in Aust.

Also a mixture of cash TC and credit card is the way to go. But watch out if you withdraw cash from ATM's is that bank back home will probably hit you with a fairly heavy transaction fee and also the ATM's in Bali give you your cash before they return your card, which is the opposite to that in Australia and you may get caught walking away with your cash and leaving your card behind - it is an easy thing to do.

Sorry can't help with the Contiki thing as I am abit old for that too.

Ohh and the mosquito's, we normally stay in a villa that is "open" to the air and we just go to the supermarket and buy mozzie coils and we find they work just right.

And by the way we will be there in August staying in Legian may catch up with you?

Question Sue

Hi

This is my first time on the travel forum. I am a regular visitor to Bali and am always interested in what is new and what people are doing in Bali, so I thought this was a good way to find out. I am going in October with my two adult daughters and am interested in finding somewhere to take them at night. somewhere with a bit of music and a bit of fun.
