Default First time to bali for a week, help needed

Hi all,

We(three couples with 2 toddlers and 2 children under 6) are planning to come to Bali for first time for a week.

We know nothing about where to stay and what to do except that we want to have fun.

We are planning to split the seven days into 2 three day stays so that we can stay in two different places.

I want to know,

1. what are the locations i should look out for- we are fun loving families with kids and would like to spend more time in beach and shopping(for us ladies).

2.accommodation cheap, clean, safe and closer to beaches and amenities.

3. how are home stays with three bedroom villas? our budget would be 100malaysian ringitt per couple per night.

4. what are the things we should not miss being in bali?

5.how about renting a car and self driving? is it safe?

6. where can we stay? - three days at once place and three at another to enjoy the most out of bali.

Please help me with us. If information not enough i will come back with more.

Thank you in advance.

Hi..Bali is safe, manby places to stay depend on your budget, self drive better not. I've been traveling to Bali every year and never self drive to dangerous and must have international lisence.

Hi,

Here is a link to the Bali for Families website. It is well worth a look.

Bali for families

Bali shopping district is mainly Tuban to Seminyak. The Discovery Mall in Kuta would be worth a visit. The main road, Jl. Legian extends from
Kuta right through all the shopping areas and it is wall to wall shops and restaurants.

The Jayakarta is good for families, not sure if the suites could accommodate you all but they have full buffet breakfast and about 3 swimming pools with a children's pool. Location is good.

I would suggest staying at the one place for the whole time and take day trips and tours. You will spend precious time packing and unpacking and checking in and out of hotels. Tours can be arranged through your hotel or tour offices outside along the street and there is plenty of information available to help you choose.

Do not drive yourself. Too much of a chore and responsibility, traffic is crazy and you won't know your way around. Everybody gets to sit back and enjoy the sites. Perhaps a day to Ubud, the Bali Marine Park is another place that would be great for the whole group, The Mother Temple at Beaskih, Suka Wathi Market or the Ubud Market. Stay away from the monkey forest....scary little devils.

I would recommend a hotel over a villa. With so many children you want the swimming pool very secure.

Hope this helps

Enjoy
Catherine

Bali Palm

I stayed in Bali earlier this year (first time - loved it!) and saw families in most locations I stayed in. Seminyak, Sanur and Ubud are locations to consider - all quieter, but family oriented as far as I can tell.

Definitely second (third) the suggestions not to drive in Bali. Traffic is chaotic and a test of mettle. Pay a driver to deal with the hassle - ask for prices on this forum if you want to know a ballpark figure in advance.

Have a good holiday :p
Steve
