Smile under 16 travelling alone

Hi
I´ll be travelling to Bali via Kuala Lumpur, stopping off there for 5 days to visit family friends before going on to Bali where I´ll be staying with my cousin for a week before returning via KL to the UK. I´m travelling on a British passport, so no visa required, and will have a letter from my parents giving their permission for me to travel alone. I´m going to be met at the airport in both destinations, and I´ve flown within Europe on my own often with no problems, so no worries about the trip itself. Is there likely to be any hassle going through passport control in either KL or Bali? Has anyone else done this route underage and alone?
hope someone can help me
thanks!

Default Similar situation

I am desperate to go travelling with my friend, but to convince my parents to let me go i need to continue my school studies while abroad. i heard there were certain applications needed to be filled out if you're going to be gone for months at a time without your parents. did u have to do this? is it complicated?

My friends parents have said that we don't need to continue studying while we're traveling, but i think it would be a good idea anyway because we might be gone for up to a year and i don't want to fall amazingly behind. can u offer any advice or help?
Thanks

hi
i´ve no idea about what you need to fill in to study, sorry. Like I said, I´m just away for a couple of weeks, and that´s within the school holidays, so no need for any sort of applications there. The only thing I do know that you definately need if you´re travelling alone under 16, is a signed letter of permission from both parents, I always carry that with me, backed up with copies of their passports and my birth certificate. Sometimes I´ve been asked for some sort of parental authorisation coming in and out of the UK, sometimes they don´t seem to be bothered one way or the other

Default visa for bali

Hi there
you do actually need a visa for Indonesia when travelling on a British passport. It´s one that you can get on arrival, but if you wanted to be on the safe side - you never know what sort of immigration official you´re going to be dealing with, it´s probably quite worrying getting stuck in immigration with an unfriendly official wanting answers to all kinds of questions, when you´re on your own - you could apply for the visa before you go from the Indonesien Embassy in London. They need a few documents to back up the application - travel itinery, proof that you´re either employed or in education or whatever, to show you actually intend to reurn home after your holiday, copy of your (or your parents´) bank statement to show you´re not destitute - check out the embassy internet site for all the details. Apparently only takes three working days.
