Just a bit of current info (March 2011) for anyone looking to get from Ubud to Seminyak. The other day we grabbed a driver from the centre of Ubud (near the community hall) who quoted 200,000. With a bit of bartering and then walking away we got it down to 150,000 rupiah. Thought this was a decent price "from hotel to hotel".

The other option was a shuttle bus which some of the tour agencies were offering - it cost 50,000 per person and ran at fixed times during the day, but only went to Kuta, so you would then need to cough up extra to get up to Seminyak. Probably good for solo travellers but if there's more than one of you, go for the private driver.

Thanks to this post I have agreed the same price from Ubud to Seminyak (September 2011). At first I agreed to pay IDR 200,000! Based on the message I managed to decrease to price to IDR 150.000! It's only a few EUR and USD but it always feels bad when you get lifted.

Personally, I feel they need the few extra dollars more than we do and it is a two way trip after and they are unlikely to have a fare for the return, so I'm happy to pay that.
