Default Tegal Sari are they for real?

Like many others love this small hotel in Ubud. We are visiting again in March 2008 and booked via the website. Prompt confirmation BUT they want the total for 10 nights paid by October .2007 ,that's right 5 million rupiah six months in advance.. I am always happy to pay a deposit but this is ridiculous !
Plus they want the 2% extra to use card. Can anyone suggest another small good hotel in the area suitable for 2 women with some mobility problems ? Happy to pay up to $100USD a night for a good place.

Default Try Bali spirit

We go to the Tegal Sari every year, but we have friends who alternate between the Tegal Sari and the Bali Spirit and they think the Bali spirit is as good as the Tegal Sari.

We have also stayed at the Saha Dewa which s across the road and up about 100 meters from teh tegal sari. This place is quite new and the rooms are beautiful.

Both of these places would be within your budget

Default Tegal Sari

Have negotiated with hotel to give credit card authority for hotel to use in case of last minute cancellation or no show. I feel more comfortable with that. Paying $500+AUS 6 months out just didn't feel right.

Thumbs up Good choice

I did not want to say anything up front but IMHO Bali Spirit is too noisy as it sits below quite a noisy busy road and I would not stay there / compare it with the peace and tranquility of Tegal Sari.

Default I'm a sucker for Tegal Sari

so, I'm afraid I'm one of those who would quietly have paid up upfront, just to be able to secure a room god knows it's getting more and more difficult to get a specific room for more than a couple of days without booking months in advance...

Tegal Sari is heaven. We actually book 12 months in advance every year the day we check out of tegal sari. I have got room 24 for 9 nights in September this year and looking forward to every minute of it

Does any one know what the newer rooms at Tegal Sari are called? The ones built a couple of years ago at the Northern end. Am thinking of booking in! Mark, you would know!?

Default newer rooms

I think they're Rooms 20 to 24. The ones upstairs are super deluxe wooden rooms. Stayed at Room 22 - nice!

On the web site when booking it is hard to differenciate. Any one know what they call rooms 20 to 24 for booking purposes?
