Default Advice

Hi,

I am going to Bali on a honeymoon. Based on research so far, following is the plan

14 Feb - Arrive at Bali (staying at Hyatt Sansur)
15 Feb - Ubud, Kintamani
16 Feb- Day trip to Nusa Lembongan Island
17 Feb- Sansur Corals, etc ( Move to Kuta Harris Resort)
18 Feb - South Beach - Uluwatu - Jimabaran Tour
19 Feb -Bali National Park
20 Feb- Tanah Lot + Kuta Local

What are experts' thoughts on this? Am I missing any place/activity and should include in the plan?

Hope to hear back soon.

Thanks,
Govind

Hi Govind how nice to spend you honeymoon in beautiful Bali.
Looking at your itinerary you spend most of the time in the South and Southwest of the island. My wife and I have been coming to Bali for the best part of 10 years and we're smitten with the island and it's inhabitants.

We usually start in Ubud, it's a bit inland and elevated so it's not as blisteringly hot as the beach. So it's great to acclimatize here.
Not sure if you have full board in Ubud, down town there's plenty of restaurants to choose from. My tips: Ibu Rai, Cafe Wayan (Monkey Forest Road). Do try to arrange a hiking trip through the rice fields as this area is best known for that scenery. In the area try to see the holy spring temple (pura tithra empul).
At Jimbaran try to get onto the beach at about 4PM see the sunset and get grilled fish on the beach. They put the tables in the sand so you can eat barefoot and for small money. Don't be scared if the places look a bit down market the fish is freshly caught everyday.
For getting around in the south the Blue Bird taxi are on a meter and affordable.
Other taxi's (they keep shouting "transport") can turn out more expensive.
Feel free to haggle as much as like with merchants and drivers, it's local custom the bargain but once you start bidding you are supposed to finish the deal.
For myself, KUTA does not rock my boat to be honest. Being offered spliff's does not do it for me (and I am Dutch!). You have to be careful with drugs anyway there, because there are severe penalties if you get caught.

Last but not least try to learn some phrases in Bahasa, buy a booklet.
It does wonders I tell you.
That's my tuppence worth and enjoy your honeymoon.
