| | Car with Driver Recommendations Hi. This is my first message on this forum and I hope that I will be a productive member.
We are going to Bali in August and are looking for a reliable and friendly driver to take us on two day-tours. He must be fully insured and have the B Umur license and the Jasa Raharja (tourist passenger)insurance.
He must be honest and not spend the day taking us to rip-off shops in order to get kick-backs.
Does anyone know a driver who has proven to you that he is as described? Thanks, Dres |

OK, a nice guy that knows the top artisans in Ubud and does not get, I think, a commission; he is Wayan Kamar. He says he is licensed etc. but do I believe him? No, I don't. why? Because he said he was not licensed and then said he was too quickly for the process to happen in my book. Also I do not know that his vehicle is new enough to get certification. This is the problem, Balinese drivers can not afford to take a year off work and buy a newer vehicle and then compete with the mass of unlawful drivers.
Also there is Putu Arnawa. I have never used him myself but I think if anyone is truly licensed and insured, he is. Maybe he knows the quality artists in Ubud but I doubt as well as Wayan. I bought a lot, and I mean a lot of paintings, fabrics, puppets, silverware, etc. once and Wayan was the guy that took me to the places; he just sat in his car though outside, unlike most other drivers looking to assert their commission requirements. PS, I truly believe silver in Bali is the biggest rip off going. Both can be found here |

You are looking for a car with a driver. Our family have been to Bali approximately 20 times over the last 15 years. On our second visit we met a Balinese gentleman who has been driving for us ever since. We have found him to be a very helpful and honest person and his rates are very competitive, he speaks very good english and is very good with sugestions if you don't know the island and want ideas on where to go. He has recently upgraded his vehicle and works for BMW Tours. When he's not working for them he does normal bemo work. His name is Made Sudra, his vehicle is called Bali Dream and his mobile No: 08123900912.
Best of Luck and I hope you enjoy your holiday.

| | Dewa Marco
Arrived home one month ago. Dewa Marco was recommended by a friend living in Bali.
He is an exceptional driver, good humoured, punctual, very flexible and nothing is too much trouble. His sound command of the English language, as well as experience in driving multinational tourists, enables him to communicate with, and place, all visitors to Bali at ease. He will not take you top places to get a commission, he takes you where you want to go. He is happy to make suggestions if required.
He has excellent driving skills fromhis years of experience in driving tourists in Bali. His vehicle is comfortable and Dewa is available for short journeys, day trips and overnight stays of 1 or more nights, all at very reasonable rates.
In addition to the qualities outlined above, Dewa comes highly recommended for his invaluable experience and knowledge of every aspect of Bali . He will promptly respond to your emails, telephone calls and SMS messages.

| | Dewa marco - best bali Driver
Greetings
we are family from taiwan of returning from 3rd trip to Bali. I contacted Dewa marco to leaving Bali and received quick and helpful feedback from him. During our time in Amed beach and Ubud, Dewa was wonderful in assisting us in our travel and sightseeing needs. His charge very reasonable rate. Without a doubt, we would definitely work with him again when we return to Bali. Dewa provided a lot of helpful information regarding Bali and the Balinese culture. To say the least, this was definitely the highlight of my trip. For anyone who is interested in contacting him, please feel free to drop him a line at : dewamarco AT hotmail DOT com. | | Great Driver
I was in Bali in 2005, and haven't been back since, but we used this very nice gentleman. Not sure if he's licensed, but he's extremely reliable, safe, and couteous. I work for Continental Airlines, and I personnally know many of us who have used him.
His name is Wayan Suka. His email was wayansuka@hotmail.com
and a mobile number I had for him was 081 2392 2903.
I would recommend him to anyone!

| | | Wayan Kamar
Hello, I am in Bali at the moment and I am using, as always, my friend Wayan Kamar as driver. Your description in the travel forum is accurate, but I would add more things:
He has been very good for me as a woman travelling alone.
He knows not only the artists but also the craft centers, jewellery workshops, cargo managers... he is the best for business travellers.
He is based in Ubud but when travelling with my husband he has travelled around with us surfing and also diving. He is an expert in these sports and best places to practice them. His van is great for shopping and also sports gear.
You say you know Wayan, and you know he is in need of work. He has two young daughters. I think all this information might help in his profile. iwayankamar@yahoo.com
Phone +62 8123910056.
He is my driver everytime I come to bali, and i think this report might help. When a woman travels in her own it is important to have someone u can trust. The same when u come for business, he has all the right contacts and cares about everything even after i leave. He is a driver, a guide, an advisor and a source of local knowledge. I hope he can gets more work through this because he deserves so.
