Would anyone have advice on the most reasonable way to get from the airport to Ubud (about 2 km North of Ubud). The hotel we're at has offered a car at €40. I was wondering if there's a cheaper way that's not too slow.

I found this website on the net. Ubud is about an hour's drive from the airport. I have no personal knowledge of this company but the rate seems ok.

There is a taxi office at the airport where they have a board with the transport rates listed. Taxi fares generally compare very well with other modes of transport. Generally the blue taxi's are considered the best - privately owned I believe - they are pale blue.

Anyway this link to Ubud Taxi company quotes 125.000rp which seems reasonable, I don't think you'll do it for much less unless you have lots of time and energy to search and bargain. As I've said though, I have no personal experience with them

It is very easy to get taxi to go to Ubud. Just find the Ngurah Rai Taxi Counter, ask people there when you arrive in Bali. They would happy to show the way to the counter. It is very near from exit gate in the arrival section.
No need to bargain. It is fixed price, you can see the price on a list attached on the counter wall. Price is cheaper than the hotel. Around USD 20.

€40 is a little expensive.

Either go to the taxi counter as you exit the terminal (RHS a few meters) or you can negotiate a lower price with one of the drivers standing around.

If you do negotiate take a look at the persons car before you agree.
