Default surfing in April

My adult son & I are planing a surfing trip to Bali the first 3 weeks of April. Any suggestions for good places to stay on a budget. We're not good surfers & just want to have fun in an uncompetitive environment.
Kuta beach sounds like it might fit but I'm worried about being hassled for money all the time. Also what's the best way to get around the island when hunting for waves. Another question concerns board rentals. Where for how much? Truth is any info on anything could be helpful. Thanks

Some Bali surfing information and locations can be found here
Bali Trip Advisor -:- Best surfing in Bali

As novices make sure you get some local info on rips etc before hitting the water as some locations are only for the experienced.

Default Surfing

Hi Ron,

A good budget place to stay is Suri Wathi Beach House in Jl. Menuh (also known as Jl. Sahadewa) in Legian. There are several levels of accommodation offered and location is good. It is one block from the beach. I'll try and find a link and post it in a separate post.

Also, and very importantly, if you are not experienced surfers, be extremely careful. There are strong rips at times and many people drown in Bali, as they do in many other beach destination. Perhaps you should start at Kuta/Legian beach where the surfing conditions are not as powerful as some other locations around Bali. If you google surf companies in Bali you will be able to find information regarding board hire and surf groups. I'll post a link for this too.

For your first experience I would concentrate on Kuta/Legian and speak with people at your accommodation place and gather information from them. Most people will have been to Bali many times and will be able to help you with their knowledge.

Hope this is helpful and remember make safe choices when you are surfing, I can't stress this enough.

Catherine

Default Bali Surfing Company

Bali Surfing Lesson, Bali Surfing School, Surfing Lesson In Bali at Kuta Beach

There are a number of places and I have no idea who is the best to choose. If you google 'bali surfing' you will find links to plenty of information and surfing companies so you can compare costs.

Good luck

Catherine
