Default Bali in August - other women traveling?

I'll be traveling Aug 4-23 in Bali, and my friends I'm meeting leave the 12th, so I'm looking for best suggestions for solo travelers and to meet up with others traveling alone or in groups (particularly women - no offense guys). Also suggestions of places where I can catch a good yoga class during my stay.

Default Hi

My suggestion if travelling on your own is to find a good losmen (Suri Wathi in Jl. Sahadewa Legian has always been good) and you will be sure to meet other travellers. Legian/Seminyak areas are probably the areas to stay as they tend to be busy and you are perhaps more likely to meet people more readily. Kuta is not my favourite area by a long shot so it's not a place I'd recommend to stay.

Not knowing your budget it's difficult to suggest places to stay but a losmen is more the type of place where you are likely to meet people. With all due respect to larger hotels, many people are travelling as a group or family and tend to stick together.

There is a yoga centre in Ubud as far as I know but I have no personal knowledge of it so I can't help you on this question. An internet search will find some information.

Good luck with your trip and have a wonderful time.

Catherine

Default yoga in ubud

There's a yoga studio called Bali Spirit along Jalan Hanoman. They've got several classes a day and for one-offs, I think it's 90000 Rp per class. They also have multiple class passes that you can buy. For more info, try their website: balispirit dot com

Default Thanks - and follow up Q about lodging

thanks for the great suggestions, the Bali Spirit website was helpful. Now another question - I'm looking to stay budget to mid-range for lodging (preferably under $30 / night), I really just want something clean, quiet, cool (A/C not necessary but I'd like to be comfortable) and with good access to transportation (and beach for part of the time) and good food in the area ... what's your opinion on whether I should book lodging before I arrive versus wing it when I arrive? I have my first 8 nights all set (a little north and inland from Seminiak/Legian), but 11 days after that I don't know where I'll be staying. I'd like to spend some time in the east part of the island, perhaps around Candidasa and then go to Lombok, and I have an interest in doing some day hikes around one of the two peaks ... Still figuring all this out. Suggestions very much appreciated.
