Default New accommodation in Penestanan, Ubud

I was in two minds about posting this as it may be perceived as advertising, but as it reflects one of my experiences in Ubud, and I have absolutely no financial or vested interest in this property I decided to go ahead at the peril of being flamed.

During the past two years while staying at Gerebig Bungalows in Penestanan, Ubud, there was a house being constructed in Penestanan by an expat Englishman, primarily living in Australia, who was also staying time to time and fairly long term at Gerebig Bungalows. It turned out that the owners of Gerebig were project managing it for him, so, as a builder & building designer in Oz, I took great interest in the process. Mac, the owner, proudly showed us through the finished house in May and has now sent me a link to his web-site which I have included here as it has many pictures of the house, the surrounding area, and the family (Kadek, Wayan, Ilu, Bapak, Ibu etc.) that own and run Gerebig. Mac is a retired disk jockey and actor and a very accomplished photographer. On the web site there are photos of the ceremony they had to bless the new house. Kadek from Gerebig is featured in photo 10/10 along with Mac.

I hope you enjoy looking at the site as much as I have. I really don't care if anyone is interested in staying there but I think it is of interest to the general forum community to know about new properties.

Default Lovely

Hi David, Thanks for taking the time to post this. It looks lovely and I'll certainly keep it in mind for the future.

Catherine

ps I meant to re-read your post regarding the water in the Ubud area. I was very interested in what you had to say...unfortunately I seem to be constantly in a rush these days and as yet haven't had the opportunity to respond. I will get on to it...."all work and no play" as the saying goes...boring!

Default Hi David

God, I am sorry Mac, I can not remember you. Jog my mind David.

I feel sorry for all the Macs who are struggling anyway and will struggle some more after Jakarta. The only people I am glad will suffer are the big Javanese family hotels, the corporate travel (inhospitality) industry and the Indo / Balinese Government!

I will do my best to bolster the privately owned Bali hotels

Mac Cocker from Sheffield UK. He said that he had several email discussions with you not long ago about some environmental issues... no more detail available right now. Cheers!
