Need some information on Seminyak Suites at Jalan Sari Dewi. If without own transport, is it convenient to move around? How efficient is the public transport at Seminyak area. Read about hiring driver & car but need some advice from other members.

What is the best restaurant within walking distance from the hotel? Heard that Jalan Laksamana area have plenty of restaurant but is it within walking distance from Seminyak Suites? TQ?

Jl. Sari Dewi is a small laneway, wide enough for one vehicle, which runs almost parallel to the beach behind The Oberoi Hotel.

Unless things have changed, we were able to walk out the 'back' gate (near the front carparking area)into laneways that brought us out at the restaurant strip in Jl. Oberoi (Laksmana). It was a much shorter walk than along Jl. Sari Dewi to Jl. Oberoi and along there to the restaurants. A Greek Reastaurant, a Moroccon, an Italian, Zappas Bar and a number of other places.

Also very near the end of Jl. Sari Dewi, on the beach front, is the Ku De Ta restaurant which is excellent. There are also a number of restaurants very close by if you go this way.

The hotel will call a taxi for you any time as wandering around at night (particularly laneways) is not such a great idea. During the day we really enjoyed our walks around this area. Depending on what else you want to do hiring a car may suit you but sometimes getting another person to do the driving takes a lot of stress out of your day. I have been told that Blue taxis are the best ( for some reason that I can't remember) however price-wise taxis in general are quite comparable to other options.

Development has been going on in this area for some time and I've no idea what major changes have taken place.

She did a great job. It's a good area and I wouldn't bother with a driver and car and would rely on local taxis for the days you couldn't be bothered. The only other "find" in that area is just past Ku De Ta on the main road there is a very unobtrusive and unassuming cafe called "Cafe Tebu". It does great breakfasts very cheaply inclucing excellent french pastries, great coffee. At lunch they serve salads that would fill a hand basin and they are great. If you are over local food and are in the mood for a burger or and old fashioned pasta it's superb.
