Depending on what?

Does Bali have a best time to go with regard to the weather?

We went in June and there was some rain but not very much and it was hot but not so hot that it was uncomfortable (like it was in Samui at that time of year on one of our visits!)

I thought you'd booked to go to Thailand or is this yet another holiday!!!!

Default Weather in Bali

Dependng on whether it's raining or not.....very hard to predict the weather.

Best time to be in Bali is during the southern winter/spring - May to August/September. After September it starts getting hotter, more humid and more likely to rain as it moves towards the rainy season.

When Neil Young wrote "it's better to burn out than to fade away" I think he was talking about drug abuse, as per the early demise of Johnny Rotten. It was a bit of a surprise to see this song line in this context....is this something to do with travel? I hope all travellers keep safe and enjoy but don't burn out during the travel experience.

I hadn't realised it was from a neil Young song, I have to admit I saw it somewhere else and it took my fancy. I use it to mean make the most of your life and don't sit at home thinking we'll do something next year, then next year never comes and when it does it's too late.

You never know what's round the corner and there may come a time when travelling is difficult or impossible due to ill health etc so get on and do it now!

Dave booked the time off work not booked the holiday yet so was just wondering about trying Bali.
Because it is August I dont want any where full of kids really. The prices in Samui jump up for August but I want to go then because it is my birthday.

Hi Jax

It depends on where you stay. If you go during the European summer then you might expect a few European kids.

However, you have to watch the Australian school holidays otherwise you will be inundated with kids at certain hotels . Dynasty in Tuban is a BIG family hotel. Here is a website of Aussie school terms.

Australian School Holidays

Shame you're not going 23rd May/June ... we could have met up

Cheers Geri

Default School Holidays

Always good to avoid if possible. Staying away from the big resorts may help.

I hear you Alison, it's a great line and far better to have some great memories and take a few risks than stay at home and die of boredom. Get on with it and enjoy before our choices are taken away.

Happy travelling.

Catherine
