Hi there,
I see no-one has replied to your post yet ... thats unusual.
Even tho its been 4 years since I went to Bali, Im sure some of the places I mention will still be there, if not all of them.

We stayed in Legian at the Melasti, so most nites we ate close to there so as not to have to walk too far - 2 females not entirely feeling safe walking the streets at night on our first trip overseas! Amazingly, every meal we ate in the 8 nts we were there I would recommend, EXCEPT for the 2 nites we ate at the Melasti for dinner!

Poco Loco is a mexican restaurant very close to Melasti in the back street where the Melasti entrance (Jl Padma) is and it was fantastic, very yummy, quick and cheap. A meal with drinks about AUD$8

Poppies is in Kuta but we ate there most days we were in Kuta shopping and it is a real haven in the heat it is in Poppies gang 1 and meal with drinks about $10.

La Porcheta and La Terraza are Italian restaurants both on Jl Legian and both highly recommended, although getting a bit dearer at about $10-$12 each (but still dirt cheap I recon!)

A little local restaurant near Poco Loco I think called Puri Aggeng was unreal, very cheap, meal and drinks about $3-$4 - we ate there a lot mainly for lunch.

The seafood dinners at Jimbarin Bay are nice but not all they are cracked up to be I recon. Meal and transfer about $30 each.

By far the best meal for us was at Seminyak at La Lucciola, should book ahead and have sunset drinks, its magic. But a bit dearer about $20 each we paid back then. Aparently Ku de ta is meant to be really nice also.

Anyway, hope that helps you a bit. Makes me just want to go back today!

Kitty

PS. A good Italian fix also is Cafe le Sands on the beach strip not far from melasti, meal about $6.

Default restaurants

you are a little out of date kitty.
The Sands no longer exists, it is now a pretty mediocre overpriced pizza place.
Poco Loco is to be much avoided, food causing many many stomach upsets in the past years.
There are new inexpensive restaurants opening up all the time, just go for a wander and see what's available.
On the beach strip most restaurants are excellent in terms of variety and value. Have a look at Lanai, Tekor, Blue Ocean, Seaside, and Zanzibar.
In the streets off the pantai, Warung Asia, Drops, Ketumbar, Breeze,
Warung Yogya, Legian Snacks, Uncle Norms, Yutz.
Seriously , there are literally 100's of places to eat, walk , walk , walk.

Yes ... I realise I may have been a little out of date, which is why I stated that it was 4 years ago that I was there. I was simply saying which restaurants we ate at at that time that we found to be good value with good food! That was all! We ate at Poco Loco many times when we were there and never had any probs _SORRY!
