Default Villa in Ubud

Hi all,

I'm returning to Bali after a long absence (now with Family) and am looking for a kid friendly 4+ bedroom villa in Ubud. Ideally we would like to be walking distance to Monkey Forest Rd and / or Jl Raya or if not, then a villa with a drive / shuttle included. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, Edward

Default Villa in Ubud

Hi Edward,

What sort of price are you hoping to pay? Do you want to cook your own meals? How old are the children? With 4+ bedrooms it seems like you're after quite a big place.

Depending on the aqe of your children you may find it more economical to book a hotel such as The Pertiwi Resort or Ubud Village (both in Jl. Monkey Forest), taking several rooms in the one block.

I recently stayed at the hotel Champlung Sari in Ubud. I would never stay there again myself for a number of reasons. They have a family 'suite' of two adjoining rooms however one of the downsides, particularly with children involved, is their proximity to the Monkey Forest. Very 'quaint' and interesting on first impression when the monkeys descend on the hotel at breakfast time but, in fact, rather concerning. You can also forget about sitting on your balcony at any time of the day unless you're happy to be surrounded by monkeys that are waiting for an opportunity to snatch anything that isn't glued to a solid, immovable surface, like the floor.

Perhaps more information regarding your needs would be helpful in finding a suitable place for you to stay.

Catherine

Default More information

Thanks, Catherine. We will be 4 adults and 4 kids aged 4 - 10. We were hoping to spend not more than about $450 per night. Ideally walking distance to Ubud centre but if not we would want a driver or a shuttle included. a Don't mind if meals are included or not but it would be convenient to have a chef on staff if we want to use (and I presume pay extra) - not too keen to have to cook on holiday and meals are generally very affordable in Bali. Also, a place that hs a TV with DVD player - normally I would hate this on holiday but I think it will make life easier with the kids at times. We want somewhere pretty self contained so that once the kids are in bed the parents can sit out on a porch but be within earshot of the kids. Please let me know if you need any other info. Thanks for your help

Default Family accommodation

Hi Edward,

I have posted a link to the Bali for Families website that may offer some help....Club Kokos and Teman Harum Cottages are two places they recommend.

There is also Kajane Mua, Ananda and Honeymoon Cottages that advertise family accommodation.

You might also like to look at the 'all ubud villas' web site (I will post the link in a separate message as I can only do one link per message).

One thing to consider, which you have not doubt already thought of, is the position of the swimming pool. As some villas have their own pool it can be dangerously close when there are young children in the family. Sometimes family accommodation within a hotel can be much safer in this regard as the pool is further from the rooms. There is also a lot to be said for a hotel with a restaurant and some places include breakfast in the cost of the accommodation. Very handy for feeding a large group or a hungry, tired child when a trip out to a restaurant or meal preparation is just beyond you.

I'll be interested to know what you decide or which properties appeal to you. You might like to google for any reviews of places that look promising. Tourist numbers to Bali are picking up so it would be good to book well in advance.

I'll post the link to the Ubud Villas website in a separate message

All the best
Catherine

Default Posting a link?

I have posted two links and can see below the web addresses 'already pinged' under the Trackbacks.

However, how do these appear in a message as link that someone can the use to get to the website?

Default Thanks, Catherine

Hi Catherine, I couldn't use any of your links but nothing a search engine couldn't help me with. You have made some great suggestions that I hadn't found in just browsing. I really appreciate your help.

Default Hi Edward

I must find out how to post a link to a website...glad you managed to find your way.

There are so many variables it's very difficult to put it all together. Whatever may be lacking this time, there's always next time, ha!

Pleased to be able to offer some helpful comments and hope it does come together perfectly for you all. Will be very interested to hear what you finally decide.

All the best

Catherine
