Default Help ASAP- Bali Hai closing!!

Hi Everyone

I have just logged on to the Bali Hai site to request something beofre we arrive and have seen a note letting us know that as of the 20th May the Bali Hai will be closing down due to something about the current Indonesian Laws...

Whilst I respect the commercial Bali Hai wouldnt be everybodys choice of hotel, we are due in there on the 6th May (Next Sunday) staying until the 16th - 4 days before they close!!

I have emailed them direct to enquire about how the hotel will operate up until then ie staff, restaurants etc, but was wondering what others thoughts were...
Should we try to book somewhere else? Do you think it should still be ok until we go? We are a family of 2 adults and 2 loud six year old twin girls..
Am not too sure what will be best - help!!

Thanks guys - i eagerly wait your responses!!
Amanda

Default I am sorry

you are being messed around on your holiday, but am glad such an over-rated hotel on a really awful sewerage polluted beach next to the noise of the airport is finally closing. I suspect it is probably tax fraud, but then I suspect most hotels are guilty of that in Bali! If you must book a large alleged luxury hotel in Tuban, maybe try the Santika Beach; I think it is the best of all the hotels along that stretch (although I have business issues with the Management of that hotel, as far as you are concerned that is probably not an issue).

Thanks Mark.
I guess I am hoping all will still be okay for while we are there...but I guess I wont know that till we go!! The other place I am looking at is the Kumala Pantai - trying to find info on that - and others - now!! We tried the Hai as family booked it last year and for us it was great. I really want something that is clean and tidy, great pool area for the kids and I, good location and ideally something that has partitioning for beds - to seperate us a little from the kids!! Otherwise when they go to bed - so will I! They wouldnt sleep if they thought i was having more fun than them!!
Again - Thanks Mark!!

Wink Amanda

Truly, I do not like them for business reasons, but the Santika Beach beach is great for families; take a look (although not on my company's site, we suspended them for non-payment - but that is pretty typical Indonesian business culture I am afraid!)

Default Holy ****

This does not sound good Amanda.

What if you get there and the staff are minimal, this could result in dirty pool, rooms not cleaned properly, food available? Not trying to scare you but these would be some of my concerns.

I guess you could just show up at the hotel and if it was not up to your standards go looking for other accommodation from there.

Hope whatever you decide you still have a great holiday

Larry

Hi Amanda

Yes, very sad about Bali Hai, been lots of talk about it for the past week on other sites. People just back say still fully staffed, but very sad.

Santika would be my recommendation. Kumala Pantai is not what you would call "child friendly". You would not be able to have the kids in the room with you either (max 1 to a room unless you take suite).

It is a popular Hotel with the quiet middle age crowd. I have even heard guests tell children to "quieten down".

The sea is pretty treacherous in front of there also, if the kids like to paddle. We always stay there, so if you want more info, happy to help.

Of course, the main "kids" Hotel is Dynasty. As my kids are older now, I am only going on heresay.

Hope this helps, whatever you decide, have a great holiday.

Thanks guys.

I recieved an email from the Bali Hai this morning reassuring me all would be fine - but then they would say that wouldnt they!!!

I think we are going to go and see what it is like. If things arent up to what we expect then i will find accommodation somewhere else - all will be ok.

I agree with Larry - they were my exact concerns ie pool, food and atmosphere - but again will go and look see.

We stayed at the Dynasty a few years ago and despite me still staying at a similar "commercial' property in the Bali Hai, we found the Dynasty too big and too removed, where as our experience at the Hai was the opposite, warm, friendly and great fun!!

I am a little calmer today - after all, no matter what happens i will still be in paradise for 2 weeks!!

I will let you know how it all turns out.
