Julie, sorry for the slow reply!
We stay in bungalows with a lovely Balinese family. It isn't a hotel but they offer a good clean modest bungalow of bedroom, bathroom, "kitchen" (useful for the fridge!) and lovely big verandah including breakfast and afternoon kopi/tea plus great conversation for 125,000rp for two per night.
The bonus in August was watching Bapak hand ploughing the family padi and then preparing the seed in the "nursery" for planting. In April he planted the whole field while I was there in about 2 days, with help from Ibu.
Bapak's eye-sight is not as good as it was so he no longer produces works as an artist. We brought his last art work back to Oz with us in August.
Bapak's son, Wayan, and his wife run the bungalows. Wayan has a new Toyota people mover and in between discussing world events with other villagers (he is the head of the village) he drives his visitors around for a nominal price.
The name of the place is Gerebig Bungalows, there have 8 rooms and for us it is almost our second home.
