I came back from Ubud last week. My only relevation regarding restaurants was that 'Nomad', just west of the market along Jl Raya Ubud, where we ended up eating at least three evening meals. Still the same old owner but they have employed a French manager. Food is excellent and reasonable in price. They have 'Tapas' for entree or main in lots of 3, 6, 9 or twelve to a serve. The tapas are all Balinese and are all delicious and are served with rice. Each tapas is easily shared by two people as they are generous and comprise two pieces where appropriate so we generally started by sharing 3 (15,000rp). 6 are 30,000rp, etc. Mains are a selection of what I would call 'Nouveau Balines/Indo" crossed with Western influences. The tuna steak is superb and the beef medallions on skewers even better (each approx. 40,000 rp for very generous serves)! We were disappointed by nothing that we tried, including the wine. They serve very drinkable red & white by the glass (in nice glassware!) for 24,000rp - when we were there it was imported from Chile and the merlot in particular was good. Service excellent!
