Hi there Ronnie,

It's definitely busier than when you were last there. The shopping in the markets is still quite busy though not as before. Street shopping on the main strip has increased. We thought there were plenty of tourists around compared to same time last year. Hotels were less busy (the smaller hotels) in favour of villa accommodation, I guess because of the perceived safety. Larger hotels around Nusa Dua and Jimbaran seemed to have high occupancy also.

People on the streets are saying it is not busy - definintely people are shying away from less popular restaurants. We ate mainly in our villa and a few times out at smaller restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

We took friends this time and it was their first ever trip to asia. They enjoyed relaxing at the villa and didn't anticipate the service aspect that goes hand in hand witih a good villa so were absolutely thrilled. They didn't enjoy the Kuta trip we did one day to Matahari but I don't generally enjoy this either.

We are all planning a similar holiday next year.

Carolyn
