"Peoples views on Bali and Indonesia will be varied and conflicting, for many different reasons."

Didn't I read that you have a new property in Bali? So isn't it less a case of predictions and more wishful thinking on your part?! BTW, money changer rip offs are fraud, not corruption. Corruption is where some cop plants drugs on you and then tries to extort money from you. Or arrests you under questionnable circumstances for drugs use and then when your blood sample proves negative (for drugs), takes another while you have been in jail all that time and which somehow is positive (he spikes it). Finally, the news in Indonesia is that the pornography law will carry through the Indonesian Parliament with about 90% of the vote; I don't think that indicates Bali will somehow be exempt (should have bought a condo on the Gold Coast mate ;-)).

Read (non-Bali) travel forums around the net, Bali is a lost cause / goner except for property owners and SE Asian package tour hoards who think Osama is a Japanese greeting.
